Kansas Thanksgiving Trip

Hello all, and I hope all are well. Fran and I just returned from our quick trip to Lawrence, Kansas. Almost 1200 miles round trip, but who's counting(ha). It was good to see John and Rhonda and spend a few days with them on this outreach opportunity at Haskell. John is doing ok and is getting good reports from his medical team. It will still be several weeks before he has most of his balance back. He has to use a cane but it doesn't help much when he carries it instead of using it. Rhonda has told him she will use it on him if he doesn't use it like he is suppose to.(ha) We enjoyed our time with them even if it was such a quick, short time.
The event at Haskell when very well. 150 "goodie bags" were handed out along with many cups of coffee. We were joined in this outreach opportunity by several members of the church which made the afternoon activities go so much better. By all accounts,it was a wonderful event and we were all well received . Only time will tell how far reaching this outreach project will be. I also had an opportunity to meet with several key leaders on campus to discuss plans for next summer. By their response, we were a big hit on campus and that they are looking forward to our group's return next summer. I plan to go back to Haskell sometime in April and meet with these leaders again so together,we can better plan the work schedule for all of our teams. I hope to see more of our churches involved in this outreach mission event. This is "REAL" mission work that can have a hugh impact on John's ministry at Lawrence and at Haskell, and have a great kigdom impact on the Native Americans. Start talking about this mission opportunity in Kansas now. This summer in Kansas will be great! DOM

Update On Brenda

Hello all, and I trust you are all well. Hugh Allen was just in the office and gave us an update on Brenda. Good news, she is now on the transplant list for Arkansas. It will be sometime before she is put on the national list, but one step at a time is good news for now. She has been home for several days and has to have in-home personal care, but again, good news because she is at home. Hugh's report about her overall condition was encouraging to hear. Since the news about her becoming a grandmother in March ,she is excited to get better so she can be around to spoil her grandson! Yes, another Quimby is on the way to carry on the Quimby name. Needless to say, the future granddad is very proud and excited. This was just the news Brenda and Hugh needed to help get them through the time waitng for her new heart. Now about another matter. Heart transplants are not given away and do not come cheap. Not counting all of the hospital expenses over these last few months, the bill for this is going to be "through the roof"expensive. I am going to talk with the president at the bank and see if we can establish an account so everyone who knows and loves Brenda and Hugh can give something to help them with this hugh expense. I know you wanted to know about this as soon as possible, so, here it is. We will get to work on this as soon as possible. I ask Hugh if this was ok with him, and he was ,for a moment, speechless, which is saying something about Hugh. He was excited and grateful for the kindness expressed. So, we all will need to get to work on getting the news around about this special account. I will give you this information just as soon as I have it. Thanks all, and Blessings.

Hope Place Banquet

WOW! That is the word that came to mind before, during and after last night's big event. It was wonderful and a real blessing. Everyone who helped put this event together did a super job. I heard nothing but very positive comments from everyone I visited with after the last amen. I'm glad I attended, not just because of my involvement as a board member or because of the partnership between Hope Place and BBA, but because I got to see, hear and experience so many different blessings. Knowing that there are 21 churches supporting the ministry of Hope Place pleases me greatly. But it reminds me that we still have a ways to go in recruiting the churches of Monticello to become partners in this very exciting ministry. Knowing that we have helped to save 15 babies through the ministry of Hope Place is beyond words. Knowing that we have helped over 50 clients this year is exciting. And knowing that the ministry is helping put families together through the power of God's word with the weekly Bible study, is  the cherry on the top, making the work of this ministry just that much sweeter! I am pleased and thankful that our churches were well represented last night and are active supporters of the ministry of Hope Place. A big "THANK YOU" goes to First Baptist Monticello for hosting the banquet and for her strong and faithful support of Hope Place. WOW!, what a blessing! I'm looking forward to next year's banquet celebration. I hope you will make plans to attend and celebrate with us the victories to be won in this coming year of ministry service. Blessings.

Hope Place Big Event

Hope Place has been in operation for a year and a half. This banquet is the first big fundraising event that has been scheduled. Early indications show that we should have about 300 people in attendance this evening at First Baptist in Monticello. It should be an exciting time and we will have photos up tomorrow of this evening's festivities. We look forward to seeing you there!
